The Festival of St Andrew 6/12/09

Mike Duguid (President) had the pleasure and honour of leading the Federation delegation at the annual Festival of St Andrew Service at St Giles Cathedral on Edinburgh's Royal Mile.

Margaret Morrall (President Ayr Burns Club) also contributed some pictures.

Meeting with Burns Descendant ... 21/11/09

It was a great pleasure for the President to meet with Janet Elsie-May Coom, the great, great, great granddaughter of the poet through Anna Park, barmaid at the Globe Inn, Dumfries.

First Minister meets essay competition winner

Following a comprehensive tour of the Paliament building, fourteen year-old Seraphima Nechaeva met the First Minister, Alec Salmond, and delivered an abridged version of her essay in perfect English, and occasional Scots, and demonstrated powerfully why she had been chosen as the winner.

At the recent Homecoming Ball at the Sheraton Hotel in Edinburgh a print of the new Burns Portrait by Charles Nasmyth:- “Robert Burns and the enigma of Immortality” featured here was sold for £300 together with 10 prints illustrating Tam ‘o’ Shanter.   All proceeds from the sale were donated to the Stewarts Melville “Access to Excellence” programme.
 
The work completed especially for the Yeer of the Homecoming has attracted much attention. Charles Nasmyth is making this large iconic image of Burns available for events and to institutions wishing to promote the work of Burns.
